Machineart, designers of specialized products for BMW motorcycles, introduce an all new MudSling® rear mudguard for the 2015 onwards liquid cooled (LC) R1200R LC and RS LC
BMW have provided a minimal rear mudguard for these models but it is insufficiently long and wide to capture mud and water spray thrown forward onto the suspension and to the sides onto riders legs. The new MudSling for the R1200R/RS_LC protects these models' wide open suspension area and assorted underseat electronics modules from stone chips, rain, and mud accumulation. Its effective coverage area is 136 sq.in., 8.5 wide and 16 long to protect the Paralever arm. That provides broad area coverage forward of the tyre where none existed before, while from the side the Mudsling’s design is slender and well-integrated with the bike's form.
MudSling is injection moulded in resilient polypropylene with a fine texture matching other plastic part surfaces on the R/RS. It mounts with one screw to a frame component and is further secured to the frame side rails with zip ties.
The MudSling® LC continues the MudSling® line with a tradition of attention to detail, excellent appearance, and functionality - all characteristics of the MachineArt brand.

A conventional mudguard extender cannot be fitted to the flimsy front mudguard fitted to the R LC and RS LC. The front mudguard is simply too flexible and not a sufficiently stable anchor for mounting a mudguard extender.
Therefore MachineArt the makers of the MudSling and Avant front mudguard extenders for other BMW models have developed the Avant Guard.
The Avant Guard is a front end stone and splash guard that protects the painted engine and exhaust headers of the liquid-cooled BMW R1200R/RS from serious and costly abrasion damage. The Avant Guard is a new kind of protection product designed to reflect these bikes distinctive styling while taking over the function of a front mudguard extender.
The Avant Guard covers the full height of the engine, 12.5 (325mm), mounting to two existing screws at the top, and to the bottom of the engine case via an aluminium bracket and M8 bolts. At its widest point, 11.5 (295mm), it partially overlaps the exhaust headers to reduce stone abrasion, while leaving sufficient clearance for cooling airflow.
The Avant Guard is injection moulded nylon the same material used by BMW for its mudguards and side skirts. Its fine matt texture helps hide abrasion marks from use over time. Perfectly complements MachineArt's MudSling for the same bikes (part number MAM-SLING-RSLC) and XHeads head protectors for the same bikes (part number MAM-X-HEADLC)

X-Heads LC cylinder guards are designed to cover 80% of the face of the head to protect, not only the bottom/front initial impact area, but also the mid part of the cylinder head. Even in a stationary drop, inertia can cause a bike to roll partially onto the face of the head before it settles down.
For off-road riding the X-Heads LC complement BMW’s crash bars to protect heads from rocks and strike angles onto terrain that can get past the bars. The X-Heads LC are styled to complement the Liquid-Cooled models and are the best choice for riders who do not like the look of crash bars.
The X-Heads LC design benefits from a SuperTough nylon polymer successfully proven in use with the X-Head models.
With its blend of high impact strength, temperature and UV stabilization, the injection moulded shell is designed to be slightly ductile in impact to prevent breakage. On the inside of the shell is a thick thermoplastic rubber liner that rests against the face of the cylinder to aid in dissipating impact force while preventing hard contact.
The X-Heads LC are designed to protect both the valve and spark plug covers. If a bike is dropped at speed, any material will wear at the point of contact, but nylon will not break or puncture. Even a driveway drop will cause a bike to roll onto the face of the valve cover and X-Head’s wide shape helps to protect more area than other head covers
