Machine Art X-Heads for BMW R nineT

Machine Art's X-Head guards are now available for the R nineT, ideal for owners who want engine protection, but who aren't too keen on bulky and unsightly bars and crash bungs ruining the BMW's classic lines.

Designed to protect the Boxer engine's vulnerable valve and spark plug covers during a fall, X-Heads wrap around each cylinder, covering 80% of the surface. Unlike conventional engine bars or crash bungs, X-Heads protect the mid-section as well as the bottom/front initial impact area and this wide area of coverage also acts as a barrier against flying debris.

Each X-Head features a tough outer shell, made from an injection-moulded polycarbonate, mixed to offer high strength while flexing under impact. Inside, a thermoplastic rubber liner rests against the face of the cylinder, helping to dissipate impact force and prevent 'hard contact' with the ground.

They fix directly to each head, are lightweight and styled to blend in with the R nineT's minimalist lines. They can be used on their own, or fitted alongside engine bars for complete protection.

They also fit the air-cooled R1200GS/Adventure, R1200 R and RT models.
