Bought hex ezcan for bmw r1200 gsa fitted next day 2 sets of led lights and rear b6 brake light easy to fit but found set up a bit fiddly wires could do with colour coding bands to identify what goes where apart from that good piece of kit

This is a neat piece of kit, which is very easy to install once you find the right plug on your bike to connect it into (the diagram provided to identify the plug was completely wrong and useless, at least for my bike). However once installed, it works very well indeed. It provides flexible connectivity for all manner of lighting, sound or accessories, although you will almost certainly need to buy additional cables to get from the hexCan to the desired location of whatever you are installing. Having said all that, it works very well and integrates all your additional kit into the existing controls on the bike, which is very cool.

I bought the combo kit, Ezcan and extra wiring looms and the lowest price I could find.....Nippy Norma's. Always great service and swift delivery.
The unit itself if great, opens up so many functions for Canbus motorcycle if you adding extra electrical equipment.

I waited a year to save for the not inexpensive Hex EZ-CAN to install, power and control some aux lights for my RS. The single LED DLR on the bike is not very noticeable and the headlights quite poor on unlit roads. Having installed a SHAD top box, the bikes taillight is hidden from drivers of higher vehicles when close behind so they may struggle to spot my brake light coming on so I also added SHAD’s brake light to the top box carrier and set it up using the EZCAN.
I decided to buy the wiring kit bundle as this saved a lot if time compared to soldering or crimping all my own wiring, and was much cheaper than buying Hex or Denali cables separately. In fact, I paid £20 less for the combined kit at Nippy Normans than for the bare EZCAN at most competitors - great value for money.
The EZCAN itself is very easy to connect and program using a laptop (I used a 12 year old MacBook and the software worked flawlessly. The micro site with the software download was offline so I contacted Hex technical support and they responded within minutes - great service.
The cables are of very good quality and robust construction, although the 3-pin connectors are quite bulky requiring more stripping down of the bike to run them neatly through the frame and body work. In fact, the connectors take up more space than the EZCAN itself under the seat. I managed to fit it under the rear seat lock mechanism so it is totally hidden away (the USB port is still accessible) and I still have all of the (limited) storage space under the rear seat.
The only fault, which other reviewers have mentioned is the tiny rubber cover for the USB port. Even using snipe nose pliers I managed to drop and lose it somewhere in the depths of the bike. I eventually recovered it from under the ECU when stripping the bike another time! A simple retainer, or a cover that covers the entire end of the EZCAN would be a simple design fix.
I love the level of setup control I have over the lights and the flexibility of the system. No regrets!
